The Grand Re-opening of Valia
Local boutique Valia Honolulu is proud to celebrate its grand re-opening on Friday, Oct. 5, at a brand-new Chinatown location at Mark’s Garage on the corner of Bethel Street and S. Pauahi Street, in the former Cookie’s Clothing Co. store.
Its move to 1140 Bethel St. brings Valia closer to Chinatown’s eclectic mix of local clothing and jewelry retailers. Valia owner Camille Heung says she is excited to be closer to Oahu’s arts district and local small-business neighbors. “We love Chinatown, its businesses and its unique community feel,” says Heung. “And we look forward to being a bigger participant in Chinatown’s many events including the popular First Fridays.”
Valia Honolulu's assortment has been carefully curated by its owner to include affordable price points, comfortable fabrics and easy-to-wear pieces for the everyday woman, and proudly supports shopping local by stocking its shelves with products crafted by Hawaii brands and female entrepreneurs. “The name “Valia” is based on my interpretation of the of the word valiant in female form,” says Heung. “Strong, brave, fearless. The brand and the clothing we offer aim to encourage women to be proud of their strength, to feel confident and comfortable in their skin, and to be kind to themselves.”
Heung started her retail career as a shop girl at Chelsea, a former boutique in Manoa Marketplace, an experience that inspired her to open a shop of her own. Over the next decade, she gained valuable knowledge working for luxury Waikiki retailers such as T-Galleria by DFS, Hawaii, and Gucci. Her longtime dream was finally fulfilled in November 2016 with the opening of Valia Honolulu on Hotel Street. Now, the small-business owner is excited to continue growing alongside Chinatown’s many successful, hardworking and truly unique neighbors at Valia’s new location.
The original Hotel Street location will close on Thursday, Sept. 27. Shoppers may continue making purchases online at valiahonolulu.com until the store re-opens at its Bethel Street location.
Valia Honolulu will celebrate its grand opening on Friday, Oct. 5, with a First Friday celebration from noon to 9 p.m. Shoppers can enjoy sparkling wine, browse a brand-new selection of arrivals and participate in the chance to win a $100 gift certificate.
