Upon our touchdown in beautiful Las Vegas, Nevada or what is known to many people from Hawaii as the "9th Island", we envisioned scrumptious flavors from across the globe to jump into our mouths. The list of buffets that we wanted to visit extended further than a loose leaf paper can hold.
BUT, as much as I encourage everyone to visit the buffets, I'd also like to be the first to tell you to save some room and take a venture down to VEGEnation for a meal or two.
Lemme tell you how I discovered this fantastic hidden gem in Las Vegas....
A few of our team members and I had a few hours to kill while waiting for our next meeting. We were starving and driving around looking for a place to rest our feet, cool down in some air conditioning and FEAST on a unique lunch menu. We were driving down East Carson Avenue (on our way to the Downtown Container Park) when a "backseat" driver spotted this eatery on the left! "TURN TURN TURN" she said, "it's a vegetarian restaurant, I wanna try it".
Of course, me being the carnivorous one in the car kinda sighed and agreed (besides this young lady goes everywhere I wanna eat at soooo....).
To be honest, I had my reservations about eating vegetarian. I've tried some meals before at other locations but I was left feeling hungry and unsatisfied... BUT THIS small local business completely surprised me and turned my frown upside down!
We were sat quickly and greeted warmly (always a great first impression). We informed the waiter that it was our first time in and didn't know what to order. He immediately gave us a few recommendations that sounded great and we couldn't say no.
The "Hoki Poki" (Golden Beets with crunchy Sriracha chips)
"My Little Dumplin" (Steamed Shiitake and Spinach Dumplings)
"Bao Wow" (Asian BBQ Tofu Spinach Mushroom Bao Bun)
"Vegenation Burger" (Super foods Veggie Burger Whole Wheat Bun)
SUPER INCREDIBLE and BIG!
The "Big Haus" (Local Greens, Farm Veggies)
At the beginning, I also ordered a GREEN MACHINE smoothie (Kale, Parsley, Cucumber, Avocado, Grapes) thinking that I wasn't going to be full after eating my meal. THAT WAS A HUGE MISTAKE! I was stuffed! I needed to get my smoothie to-go! AND, the smoothie was outstanding. The blend of vegetables with grapes complemented each other very well.
OVERALL, I need to say that I was a skeptic at the beginning, but in the end, I'm a believer! VEGEnation is truly a gem for the down Downtown Las Vegas Project. They are making a statement (shown in the photo above) by showcasing that they are a community based restaurant who's menu is 100% plant-based.
In my opinion, this restaurant, this small local business, this supporter of the community should grow and have more locations throughout the state!
Thank you to everyone at VEGEnation for serving up a great meal, keeping your menu locally sourced whenever you can and proudly representing small local businesses in the the Las Vegas community!
(Right when we were leaving, this truck pulled up to drop off vegetables at the restaurant. Such a great ending to a great beginning. PERFECT TIMING!)
Thanks again everyone for tuning in to yet another small local business. I know a lot of people visit Las Vegas from Hawaii and I just wanted to showcase a small business that everyone should pop into the next time you travel to the "9th island". Be sure to let VEGENATION know you read about them through ELEV8 HAWAII!
