SB #007: What's "IN MY CLOSET"?
For those of you who have regular "retail therapy" sessions at Kahala Mall or Pearlridge Mall then you more than likely have cross paths with a vibrant store that may remind you of a walk-in closet. Your assessment would be correct, say hello to "In My Closet".
Founded by Hawaii residents Chong Yamamoto and Jina Watanabe, this gorgeous boutique was created to resemble a walk-in closet. This closet would be stocked with women's clothing brands that you may not find at departments stores. Instead, Chong and Jina search high and low for everything from dresses, belts, hats, jewelry and purses. Their keen sense of style helps them to find designers that create a unique look to their garments and accessories.
The dynamic duo have 2 retail locations, one in the Pearlridge Mall and the other in the Kahala Mall. Both locations offers similar styles but what I found out the hard way, is that if you see something you want, pick it up as it may not be there later. The owners are very savvy as they are always updating inventory to bring in the next fashionable wardrobe.
I stopped over and found this bag (above). I had a few comments on it and 1 person in particular that wanted me to pick up another one for them. Upon returning to the store, I found that the one I purchased was the only one they had available at either store! This proved to me that I won't be seeing hoards of people carrying around the same bag and it felt good to hear so many compliments on it. I realized that as IN MY CLOSET carries a limited number of one style (unlike big department stores) and the likelihood of seeing another while in Hawaii is immediately reduced!
My overall experience at IN MY CLOSET is fantastic. The employees were knowledgeable and very friendly. I couldn't find a size for one of the shirts I wanted and they kindly started calling the other store to see if they could hold one for me.
As a small local boutique in Hawaii, IN MY CLOSET is a fantastic place to stop for the latest in fashionable styles for women!
A big mahalo to everyone at IN MY CLOSET for their patience and assistance while I shopped my heart out! I hope you have a chance to check them out. Let them know you read about them at ELEV8 HAWAII!
Keep supporting small local businesses!!
